YES! Still post your vote! Many people still asking should they post it ? Yes - it must reach Reid Park by tues. 25 th Nov. So post today - Make your voice count in this democracy. Every vite is counted and included in final figures. More signs of people’s confusion over this badly chosen postal vote archaic system.
Congratulations to Nick Dametto on becoming Townsville’s new mayor. I wish him well in leading our wonderful city. To the thousands of residents that I spoke with over the past 4 weeks with concerns about postal voting, disability inclusion, transparency, arts infrastructure, youth activities, roads, rates, rubbish, sewerage and water - I hear you, I stand with you, and none of this ends here. Townsville deserves a council that listens, and we must continue to ensure that integrity and honesty rule their decisions. To each individual, (many of whom I have only come to know in the last 4 weeks), who supported, volunteered, walked the streets, filmed, wrote, caught buses to wobble board, , gave $10 or $400 to support a campaign based on Service, Integrity and community- thank you. It was truly a grass roots, Indeoendent campaign ! It was great fun, colour and laughs. Thankyou for choosing to vote for me as your leader - I am honoured and humbled. My love and commitment to Townsville will never change. Time for me to save $100,000. 😀 Together we will continue working with our community to push for accountability, accessibility, equity, and better governance. We will trust & believe in our new Council. The election is over. The hard work now begins, To get our city in shape. ❤️ Joanne
This is the reality at the Returning Office in Townsville on this election day. People in tears. People confused. People angry. Not because they don’t want to vote, but because they weren’t given their right to vote because the ballot did not arrive! This woman has voted in past elections. She is registered and is upset because she has worked so hard to become an Australian citizen and her right to vote. But today, the Returning Office couldn’t find her in the system? She came in person because she wanted her voice to count, and still walked away in tears. This is not an isolated case. More than 30 people have shown up looking for a primary school to vote at still thinking it’s a normal election. There has been no public education program. People are confused. A shame of an election. This should have been a normal election at polling booths because it’s the most important leadership position in our city. My injunction was simply to allow this polling booth at Reid Park to remain open all of next week until 25 November. I also asked the judge to not fine voters because of a lack of education about the voting system. @highlight #Townsville #PostalVoteDebacle #DemocracyMatters #postalvotefail #LetPeopleVote
Townsville deserves better than a broken postal voting system. If your ballot never arrived, you still have a voice. Come to Reid Park, follow the pathway, and lodge your vote in person at the Returning Office. This election is too important to sit out. Choose honesty, choose accountability, choose a united Townsville. Vote Joanne Keune for Mayor 2025. Authorised by D. Today at 3 pm my Urgent injunction application was heard via zoom in the Brisbane Supreme Court. The Qld Electoral Commission had 3 lawyers present and a 48 page response. I argued on behalf of the 3800 voters ( increasing every day) who have not received a ballot like me. My injunction simply asked for people who dont have a ballot to be able to walk into Reid park and vote until the 25th. Also for people to not be fined in this sham postal vote election. His honour disappointingly, does not have the power within the act to enforce the injunction. ?? He can only enforce it AFTER the election. But we sure don’t need more chaos in our city with elections. Sorry folks I tried my best. He also needed original testimonies not just “ hearsay” from me. We will set-up a petition. Everyone has until 6 pm tomorrow Sat. 15th Nov. To vote. !! Check on everyone around you go to Reid Park, next to Civic Theatre to vote for progresduve change! I’ll post his concluding remarks also. Joanne ❤️ Ps - I’ve just immediately had 6 friends message me that they did not realise it is a postal vote. 😞
PETITION: Fix the Townsville Postal Vote Please sign our petition. We, the undersigned, are not satisfied with the conduct of the postal voting process for the 2025 Townsville mayoral election. Residents have reported: • Not receiving ballot papers, • Receiving them too late, • Limited Returning Office hours, and • Lack of clear information on how to vote or replace missing ballots. These issues have prevented many voters from exercising their democratic right. We call on the Electoral Commission Queensland (ECQ) to: 1. Extend Returning Office hours, 2. Improve communication and accessibility, and 3. Urgently review the administration of this election. Petitioner: Joanne Keune Candidate for Mayor of Townsville
